Ardesse is the trade name of Uzair Ali Murtaza, an independent developer in Pakistan. There is no team behind it. One person designs, builds, tests, and supports every product here.
What Ardesse makes
Ardesse currently makes six products:
- Sound Meter, an Android decibel meter that turns the phone's microphone into a live sound level reading.
- Amber Tasbih, an Android digital tasbih and dhikr counter.
- Candela, an Android light meter that reads the phone's ambient light sensor in lux, foot-candles, or photographic EV. It is currently in closed testing and is coming to Google Play.
- HeaderHermit, a Chrome extension for developers that switches HTTP headers by profile and can mock JSON API responses.
- Taqaud, a web tool that estimates GOSI retirement eligibility and pension figures for Saudi Arabia.
- Car Loan Deduction Checker, a web tool that checks a US VIN against the car loan interest tax deduction rules and estimates the deduction.
Ardesse also publishes a YouTube channel, Your Phone Can Do That, showing what a phone can do with tools like these.
How the work is done
Each product is built to do one job well rather than many jobs loosely. Sound Meter measures sound. Candela measures light. HeaderHermit switches headers. Each one stays focused on its task.
Privacy is a starting point, not an afterthought. Where it's possible, the apps work offline and collect as little as they can. Sound Meter, Amber Tasbih, and Candela run their measurements entirely on the device and need no internet connection to work. HeaderHermit makes no network requests of its own. Every privacy claim made about a product on this site is checked against that product's current build and current privacy policy before it is published. It is never copied from an old description.
The two web calculators, Taqaud and the Car Loan Deduction Checker, give estimates to help you understand where you likely stand. They are not affiliated with GOSI or the IRS, and neither one replaces an official answer from those bodies.
The name
The name Ardesse is built from two words: "ardor," meaning intense care and enthusiasm, and "finesse," meaning skill and precision. The idea is simple: build things carefully, and build them well, even when the product itself is small.
